Fuller Busted and Still Wearing T-Shirt Bras? Why Multi-Part Cup Bras Are a Better Choice.

Fuller Busted and Still Wearing T-Shirt Bras? Why Multi-Part Cup Bras Are a Better Choice.

For ladies with larger breasts, heavy breast tissue, and bigger cup sizes, bras with cups made from a single piece of fabric - even if that single piece is a stiff foam - simply don't cut it when it comes to ensuring support.

A multi-part cup style (most commonly a three part cup or four part cup) is a much better choice for a larger cup size - this type of bra is vertically and horizontally seamed to provide the structural support that is necessary and missing from t-shirt style bras.

What is a three part cup bra?

A three-part cup bra is characterized by cups made from three separate pieces of fabric, seamed together to create a rounded, projected shape, and lift the bust for unbeatable support.

Bottom of the Cup

Two pieces of triangle-shaped fabric, held together with a vertical seam and attached to the underwire. Depending on the style, the bottom of the cup may be lined with foam (molded) or unlined, and made from either flexible or non-stretch materials.

Upper Cup

One piece of fabric that goes across the top of the breast and is attached to the bottom of the cup with a vertical seam. The upper cup is typically made from either stretch lace or stretch elastic tulle, accommodating different breast shapes, and allowing for fluctuations in breast size.

What are some of the benefits of three part cup bras?

Seamed Support

The vertical and horizontal seams in a three part cup offer structure that is missing in a single part cup, allowing the cup to lift even the heaviest of breasts. When combined with a properly fitting snug band, a three part cup bra lifts the bust without straining the straps.

Intentional Use of Fabrics

Because the cups are made from multiple pieces of fabric, the cups in a multi part cup bra can utilize a variety of materials. This means a sturdier, stiffer fabric can be used in the bottom of the cup near the underwire, while the upper cup can use elastic materials to provide flexibility only where it is needed.

Rounded Cup Shape

The multi-piece pattern in a three-part cup bra allows the cups to have and maintain a gorgeous round and projected shape.

Bonus: unlike the uni-cups in a T-shirt bra, 3-part cups that are unlined or unmolded will maintain their intended shape even if they are crammed into a drawer or carry on bag!
